WHAT IS POSITIVELY ME!?
Positively Me! is a K-12 positive psychology program of mindfulness, emotional intelligence, leadership, study skills, executive function, and character development. This program focuses on the whole child and nurturing each child’s gifts. The skills being taught connect to the research on skills that students will continue to need in the future. Areas of focus include:
Social-Emotional Learning -
- How to identify and label emotions
- Healthy strategies to express emotions
- What causes emotions and better understanding the brain
- Thinking and feeling positive
Growth Mindset -
- The difference between a fixed and growth mindset
- The difference between their emotional and rational brain
- How to move through challenges and hard things
- How to ask for help and persevere
Executive Functioning -
- How to boost our brain power
- Healthy strategies to plan and stay organized
- Practices to use their time well and stay on task
- How to stay flexible and work through challenges
Currently Positively Me! is running at Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City in Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and in the after school program for the elementary and middle schools.
